What can I say...it's Sam Woo. It's been around forever and it had had its day in the past.
When I first got to US some 20 years ago, I thought Sam Woo was the best Chinese food that I've ever tasted in LA! Now, it's just so-so to me. It not bad, but it's definitely not the best.
Anyways, these were the 4 things I ordered here:
- Cantonese dry noodle with crispy pork: 2.5/5. Cantonese dry noodle is never my thing so my opinion could be biased here.
- filet mignon: I don't eat beef but hubby & kids said just ok. 3.5/5
- walnut shrimp: 3/5
- orange chicken: 4/5 -

Racist or sexist I'm not sure. But the guy at the to go services pretended like he didn't understand us (we tried Cantonese and English) and as we were still ordering, a man cut the line and tried to go in front of us and started speaking to him in Cantonese and he responded!!! He also asked if we wanted "China Chicken" or "US Chicken", we asked the difference and he said "US Chicken 4.25 a lb and China Chicken $18 for 1" turns out it was the difference of brown or white feathers *eye roll*. People are just rude here.
We told my mom when we got home and she was like "this is why I stopped going here, it's not worth being treated that way" -

The bbq meat (pork and duck were all cold) , the waiter insist said that's the way it is, it supposed to be cold ?????
The water mug was dirty ! The steam rice was charged for $2.50 for 2 . -

Unlike most Sam Woo restaurants, this location is much more current in terms of atmosphere. Food and service is comparable to the others, but this one serves breakfast. As a volume focused business, the food comes out very quickly. Like some other locations, this one also has a deli style counter for fast to-go orders and whole chicken, duck, and roasted pig.
Let me just vent my frustration out about their parking lot. Whomever their architect was sucked at designing the structure because their parking lot is soooooo bad! Is very small and complicated. Specially when there's a bunch of people going in and out and trying to find a parking spot it's just horrible. If you go there you'll know!! You are better off parking at the plaza next door and just walk over it'd be a lot easier. Street parking aren't hat many spot available so it's better off to just park at the next plaza.
